i just watched this weird nina hagen video, and i realized that it is totally the 1980s predecessor of tracy & the plastics. (far too few people know who this band is). i wonder if that video was perhaps an unconscious inspiration for tracy (aka wynne), or a conscious one.

p.s. one of my claims to fame is that i helped set up a show for tracy & the plastics when they were making their debut tour. they didn't even have a name yet when we started planning the show!

I just discovered a band called the Eames Era. They are a five piece indie/pop/twee band from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. People say they have much in common with bands like Rilo Kiley and Tilly and the Wall. Somehow true. But besides they are just joyous and entertaining. Their songs make you want to dance, jump around or just stick your tongue out at someone. Maybe the Eames Era isn't grown up. But neither are most of us. Check 'em out!!!

I bought 4 records yesterday:
"Between The Buttons"- Rolling Stones, "Get Happy!"- Elvis Costello, "Look Sharp!"- Joe Jackson and a live record with Cab Calloway, Ella Fitzgerald and the Chick Webb Orchestra. They cost 17$ in total.

I have jury duty Monday at 8:45 at Jay St. I'm not looking forward to it. I wanna just tell them I don't believe in the judicial system but I dunno if I should. Fuck this shit.

hiatus? my hiatus is about as real as sleater-kinney's (i refuse to believe they're done forever).

i want to start a zine, an online zine. i absolutely do not have the time to write, never mind run, a zine; therefore, it will be all that more meaningful (for me, at least). my inspiration? riot grrrl in general, especially the images of it that i have from the documentary don't need you: the herstory of riot grrrl. to quote corin tucker in this documentary, "i think the moment was really right." i've been on this tangent for about two months now (skip back down to my entry about sleater-kinney and the absolute end of riot grrrl), to the point where i wish i could go back 15 years in a time machine and just continue my life during the era of riot grrrl. but i obviously cannot do that, so it's time to stop bitching and start doing something about it. this is a way to start something and get people involved.
